Classes

Check out our Weekly Projects page for an informal option to learn with more schedule flexibility.

Formal Class Basics

The main goals of each class are to have fun and make awesome glass piece(s).  Check out our Studio Calendar page for dates and time.

We have a variety of classes to choose from and most classes are repeated on different days and times.  If you would like a particular class that does not work with your schedule, just let us know and we can try to work with your schedule for future planning.

All classes are considered special events and are By Reservation Only!  All classes must be paid for in advance to reserve your spot.  For your convenience, you can use the self-serve links on our Ticket Page to easily buy your tickets, or an invoice can be sent via text or email for your class fee.  If you have any questions, please contact Rebekah at (417) 693-4991.

Classes will be marked regarding age appropriateness and recommended experience levels.  If a minor is NOT a class participant we encourage you to not bring them with you since the studio is full of sharp edges and breakable items.

During class times that fall during normal open studio hours, the studio will only be available for class participants or for project pickup.

Class List

Just the Glass Fusing

Description: Learn how to make beautiful fused glass pieces. These classes include the basics of glass cutting, using grinders and the diamond ring saw, discussions about how the glass behaves in the kiln and how this information impacts your design.  You will learn by doing and by actively discussing.  You will make 2-4 pieces throughout the day that will utilize a variety of techniques.  The number of pieces you make depends on the size of the projects you select.  You can make extra pieces, time allowed, at a discounted rate off the Open Studio rates.

Possible Focused Topics (one per class):

— Metals: How do metals and glass work together?  Work with a variety of metal coated glass like iridescent and dichroic.  We will discuss how to use their metallic properties and how it changes in the kiln for some unique designs.  Metal inclusions will also be part of the conversation including gold, silver, paladium, copper, aluminum, stainless steel and nichrome.

— Shadows: Work with how to create shadows and subtle shapes in glass. We will discuss how volume affects your design and how the glass behaves in the kiln.

— Vitrograph: Thin curved lines can add movement and whimsy to glass pieces.  The easiest way to achieve this is using vitrograph.  This class focuses on when and how to use vitrograph to enhance your project design.  There will be a demonstration of how to pull vitrograph including an opportunity for you to pull some yourself.  Vitrograph made during the glass will be available for use in your afternoon projects.

— Edges: Bullseye Glass’s streaky glass gives us the opportunity to create some unique looks using the edges of the glass.  Just use pieces on their edges to make a piece, or use little edgy pieces as design element or accents.

No glass experience is necessary. Your glass pieces will be ready to pick up within a week.   Shipping is available for an additional fee.
